Dr. Beckman is past president of the American Veterinary Dental Society and is one of 40 veterinarians in the world who have completed extensive training to become regarded as both a Fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry, and a Diplomate in the American Veterinary Dental College He is also a diplomate in the American Academy of Pain Management making him the only person in the world to hold these three titles. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in the field of veterinary dentistry, oral surgery and pain management.

Dr. Jacquelyn Horner, DVM is a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, but has called Georgia ‘home’ since 2001. This “Double Dawg” received her Bachelor’s of Biology in 2010 and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2015 from the University of Georgia. She is also fully bilingual, with Spanish as her second language. She practices general medicine at Pharr Road Animal Hospital, Atlanta’s Premier Veterinary Care Center located in Buckhead. Her special interests include surgery, dentistry, diagnostic pathology, and preventive care.


She has one dog: Chance, the 9-year-old Boxer/American Bulldog mix. Her interests include trail running and hiking, competitive fitness, cooking, attending Georgia Bulldogs football games, obedience and search-and-rescue training (particularly targeting the German Shepherd and other working dog breeds), and travel. She can’t wait to demonstrate her commitment to you through community outreach and education, leadership development, collaborative discipline, and most importantly, quality care for your animal companions! With over 22 years veterinary medical and surgical practice experience, Dr. Kim van Beuren has tended to the health care of companion animals, working dogs and exotics, including endangered panthers and alligators. She moved her practice from Florida, where she was a regular featured media veterinarian, to Roswell, Georgia, to be closer to her family. Dr. Van Beuren’s practice is wide and varied but includes a focus on working dogs from the military, police, rescue and private security canine community. Karen launched Pets and Peeps Personal Assistance Services in 2016 after a successful, decades-long career in the fast-paced world of sales and marketing both as a business owner and as a marketing professional for various large corporations. While her clients included UPS, BMW, Coca-Cola, IBM and other Fortune 500 companies, Karen realized bigger is not always better.


Today, she enjoys working closely with families and individuals in her own community. Karen is there to lend a helping hand whether it’s caring for pets, driving children to activities or appointments, running errands or managing any number of life’s responsibilities. Energetic, organized and dependable, Karen brings enthusiasm with her to every job, every day.


Karen’s experience as a single parent, manager and business owner, lifelong volunteer, as well as pet owner and pet lover helped her hit the ground running from the first day Pets and Peeps opened for business. In a few short months her number of clients zoomed to 45, most of whom are now steady customers. Karen has also added six employees to her staff. They, of course, share her passion for pets and people. For her clients’ added peace of mind, Pets and Peeps is licensed, bonded and insured.
